West explains how he moved away from this routine on his fifth album, going through the atypical task of writing things down beforehand, in an outtake from this year’s documentary The Art of Rap, available on DVD September 18. In the brief clip, the man who claims to make perfect music explains the psychology behind My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy track “Power,” a song which he claims took “5,000 hours” to write.
