Nesta Robert “Bob” Marley born February 6, 1945 will forever be a black music icon. Since his passing in May of 1981. Marley’s music which was heavily influenced by the social issues of his homeland in Jamaica has since then trickled down into today’s music scene.
Artists such as pop sensation Rihanna, Lauryn Hill, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and the Queen Beyonce herself have all credited Marley for the injection of a little island flavor into some of their top Billboard singles.
Bob Marley was a passionate performer and love activist which was prominent in each area of his life. He was a true Rastafarian and flower child. While there’s no telling where his career would be if he were alive today, Marley has received a plethora of posthumous honors, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In an world wheere music crazes change like the weather, Marley still remains a pertinent figure in music history and a role model for those who walk to the beat of their own drum.
