Black History Month: Oscar Winner Denzel Washington

Born in Mount Vernon, New York, on December 28, 1954, Washington first studied journalism at Fordham University but later discovered his true passion in life, was acting. Denzel first made his debut in the comedy A Carbon Copy (1981) and was later cast in the hit TV medical drama St. Elsewhere, in the mid 80’s. He went on to star in several blockbuster hits, such as: Man on Fire, The Book of Eli, American Gangster and took away two Oscars for his roles in Glory and Training Day.
