As we move full speed ahead, we want to continue to pay homage to some of Hollywood’s noteworthy African American Oscar winners. Continuing our list, is Forrest Whitaker. Born on July 15, 1961 in Longview, Texas, Whitaker was a college football player who late in his career, made the decision to study opera and drama. His first big-screen feature was Fast Times at Ridgemont High. He later starred in films like Platoon, Panic Room, Ready to Wear and the feature film that birthed his first Oscar,The Last King of Scottland. Whitaker, also serves as a producer and director.
