Brian Helgeland’s sports biopic 42, tells the tale of the 1947 baseball season in which Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey (Harrison Ford) decides to sign the first black major league baseball player ever, Jackie Robinson (Chadwick Boseman).
Despite the vicious racism Robinson faces from fans, other teams and at times his own teammates, he allows his remarkable athletic talent to speak for itself, soon becoming the most popular player on the team as well as scoring the Rookie of the Year Award.
